2013's THR!!!ER is the fifth full-length from the sonically adventurous sextet known simply as !!! (pronounced chk chk chk). Famous for its off-the-hinges live shows and relentless touring schedule, this time the beloved, bicoastal band focused itself on lyrics and tighter song structures. The majority of THR!!!ER was recorded with Jim Eno, the drummer and key force behind the boards for lauded indie rock band Spoon. The result is an unsettling combination of dance floor candy and dramatic deviance, replete with subversive sounds and bass lines that lead to a darker corner of the club.

Charles Bradley & His Extraordinaires
Charles Bradley’s remarkable, against-all-odds rise has been well-documented for good reason. Bradley transcended a bleak life on the streets and struggled as a James Brown impersonator at Brooklyn clubs before finally being discovered by Daptone Records’ Gabe Roth. His incredible live performances and 2011 debut album, documented in the film Soul of America, leave audiences raving as “The Screaming Eagle of Soul” truly lives up to his nickname. Victim of Love, Bradley’s second record, is a continuation of his tremendous story, moving past the “heartache and pain” and closer to the promise of hope.

Gary Numan
In recent years, synth pop pioneer Gary Numan has been cited as an influence by artists as diverse as Lady Gaga, Kanye West, Matthew Dear, Nine Inch Nails (who invited Numan on stage in 2009), Prince, and Battles, who co-released the single "My Machines" with Numan on Warp Records in 2011. Numan's forthcoming album Splinter, due in October, utilizes new sounds and ideas, revealing his status as a true iconoclast and tireless innovator. In a live setting, Numan's progressive recordings become even more anthemic and allow audiences to experience first-hand his widespread influence over modern pop music.

Grynch
Born and raised in Seattle, Grynch first discovered hip hop in elementary school when a classmate let him borrow a cassette tape of Dr. Dre's classic, The Chronic. One weekend, on a drunken lark, two girls from the Stockholm suburbs formed a electronic pop duo. Jason Bonham's Led Zeppelin Experience
Jason Bonham's Led Zeppelin Experience is a multimedia tribute to Bonham's father, Led Zeppelin drummer John Bonham, featuring live renditions of the band's classic tunes, rare home movies and concert footage, plus storytelling by the younger Bonham. Kendrick Lamar

After the Riot
For After the Riot, Reel Grrls will bring a group of artists who work primarily in combined video and performance mediums, and who are all exploring facets of gender identity, feminism, and body image with a spirit of creativity and inclusion, as well as a sense of humor. Each day, Reel Grrls will present a participatory workshops, conversations, and performances. In between workshops and performances, Reel Grrls’ participants (youth filmmakers and performers) will screen and show their work. Participants in Wynne Greenwood’s Video + Performance classes will open for each of the visiting artists’ programs. After the Riot is coordinated for Bumbershoot by Betsey Brock, Reel Grrls Director of External Relations, and Clyde Petersen, Reel Grrls Technical Director.

Detritus We Value
A sampling of this Brooklyn-based sculptor’s large-scale kinetic artworks, his work has centered on the crossroads where biology, engineering, psychology, and art meet. He has concentrated on large-scale, engineered, technology-based artworks that find their inspiration at the foundations of function and recognition. His work is often focused on entropy and decay, work that becomes most alive just before it ends. Many of his ideas are derived from media but the work is physical, live, and irreproducible. For Bumbershoot, he is creating new piece that will be an artificial and continuously changing environment based on trash, salt, human will, and hot water bathing.

Bob Mould

David Bazan
David Bazan, the songwriter and driving force behind the acclaimed indie band Pedro the Lion, built a dedicated following and sold thousands of albums throughout the late ’90s based in large part on his extraordinary melodic sense and erudite, theologically-themed songs. A decade later, he ditched the Pedro moniker in favor of his given name. Ramona Falls
Ramona Falls began as a solo project by Portland multi-instrumentalist Brent Knopf (formerly of Menomena) spurred by his overactive imagination. The Breeders
The Breeders played their first show together on June 19th, 1992, in a snooker hall behind the Warrington Rugby Club near Manchester, England. Two days later, they supported Nirvana in Dublin and Belfast, subsequently playing the legendary Glastonbury Festival. Their sophomore album, Last Splash, propelled largely by the single “Cannonball” and tethered by an impressively experimental range of styles and tones, is now widely recognized as one of the definitive recordings of the post-punk era. The Zombies

Audrey & Nelson: A Puppet Sex Musical
Audrey & Nelson is a puppet sex musical. That pretty much sums it up right there—puppets singing about and having sex. Audrey and Nelson, two twenty-somethings (portrayed by puppets), meet at a bar, get drunk, and fall into bed. Excited by their sexual chemistry, they try to turn this chance encounter into a relationship… and it doesn't work out. But along the way, they experiment with a lot of sex and confide in their best friends, who have some sexual issues of their own. And much of this is expressed in the form of low-fi indie-pop songs, in a K-Records vein. Book and lyrics by Bret Fetzer, music by Peter Richards (of the band Dude York).

After the Riot
For After the Riot, Reel Grrls will bring a group of artists who work primarily in combined video and performance mediums, and who are all exploring facets of gender identity, feminism, and body image with a spirit of creativity and inclusion, as well as a sense of humor. Each day, Reel Grrls will present a participatory workshops, conversations, and performances. In between workshops and performances, Reel Grrls’ participants (youth filmmakers and performers) will screen and show their work. Detritus We Value
A sampling of this Brooklyn-based sculptor’s large-scale kinetic artworks, his work has centered on the crossroads where biology, engineering, psychology, and art meet. He has concentrated on large-scale, engineered, technology-based artworks that find their inspiration at the foundations of function and recognition. His work is often focused on entropy and decay, work that becomes most alive just before it ends. Many of his ideas are derived from media but the work is physical, live, and irreproducible. For Bumbershoot, he is creating new piece that will be an artificial and continuously changing environment based on trash, salt, human will, and hot water bathing.

The Men

Audrey & Nelson: A Puppet Sex Musical
Audrey & Nelson is a puppet sex musical. That pretty much sums it up right there—puppets singing about and having sex. Audrey and Nelson, two twenty-somethings (portrayed by puppets), meet at a bar, get drunk, and fall into bed. Excited by their sexual chemistry, they try to turn this chance encounter into a relationship… and it doesn't work out. But along the way, they experiment with a lot of sex and confide in their best friends, who have some sexual issues of their own. And much of this is expressed in the form of low-fi indie-pop songs, in a K-Records vein. Book and lyrics by Bret Fetzer, music by Peter Richards (of the band Dude York).

After the Riot
For After the Riot, Reel Grrls will bring a group of artists who work primarily in combined video and performance mediums, and who are all exploring facets of gender identity, feminism, and body image with a spirit of creativity and inclusion, as well as a sense of humor. Each day, Reel Grrls will present a participatory workshops, conversations, and performances. In between workshops and performances, Reel Grrls’ participants (youth filmmakers and performers) will screen and show their work. Participants in Wynne Greenwood’s Video + Performance classes will open for each of the visiting artists’ programs. After the Riot is coordinated for Bumbershoot by Betsey Brock, Reel Grrls Director of External Relations, and Clyde Petersen, Reel Grrls Technical Director.

A sampling of this Brooklyn-based sculptor’s large-scale kinetic artworks, his work has centered on the crossroads where biology, engineering, psychology, and art meet. He has concentrated on large-scale, engineered, technology-based artworks that find their inspiration at the foundations of function and recognition. His work is often focused on entropy and decay, work that becomes most alive just before it ends. Many of his ideas are derived from media but the work is physical, live, and irreproducible. For Bumbershoot, he is creating new piece that will be an artificial and continuously changing environment based on trash, salt, human will, and hot water bathing.
